Remember These Bowls??

I think my Grandma had them with the red dots. They stack together and you have to be strong to carry them around. Made by fireking I think.
I made a cheesecake this morning, I have some cheries for it, so plan on not feeling good later. Changed my back entry around, that can be confusing, usually end up with left over stuff. Going over this afternoon to help with the house my daughter and I are trying to sort out for an estate sale. Amazing what people keep, Im pretty sure they never threw out a plactic container or a glass jar. We found a fruit celler behind a hidden door, we may pretend we never found that.
Waiting for calls from the Hospital about my Mother inlaw, they are trying to find a nursing home for her. Very sad. With her broken hip she will need therapy and I don't think she can follow directions. She is very confused.
Well off to do a bit more work around here before I leave for the house that is full of stuff.

Sweet Annie

I like to keep a little sweet Annie around, it smells so good. I mist it once in awhile, if you just pinch it the fragrance come right out. I ordered it on line a while back but can't remember from who. You can just google sweet annie.
Waiting to hear from the Hospital about Richard's Mom, they will be moving her to a nursing home. Then after lunch I will be going with my daughter over to the fun house where we are sorting for the estate sale, which won't be for a few months.
Sunny and mild here today, I even opened a few windows. I do that year around, but today its not so insane.

We have some snow and wind here today, lots of wind actually.
Been busy all day, just made a big pot of mashed potatoes and I have a pork roast in the oven, its been a long time since I made a pork roast. This will give me left overs for a few days.
Been into the hospital with Richard's Mom, she is 95 and not doing to well. If she can leave the hospital she will be going to a nursing home. Just a day to day thing, wait and see.
Been going with my youngest daughter as often as I can and helping her with an estate sale she is setting up for an older couple she works for. Listen, if you could see this place, you would be shocked. so much stuff. We go around in circles trying to get a system down. Well little by little we should get it under control. I hope.

I think this tin is so pretty. It seems the older ones had such pretty designs, more depth. All the little glass containers on the left all have glitter in them. able to control the amount I need when I sprinkle it.

I wish I had the marbles I had when I was little, I had a lot of the old BIG shooter ones. If they are nice ones , and you can tell by the weight and the feel, I pick them up.
Just made a German choc. cake this morning, haven't tasted it yet, but the batter was good.

TOLE TRAYS AND CROCK BOWLS

I have a lot of favorite things, but tole trays and crock bowls are right up there. This bowl is a great place for all my potholders.
Very windy here today, if it was summer my clothes on the clothsline would be dry in record time. Well off to get my second cup of coffee and play house.

Looking through the drawers in my little kitchen chest. Love all these pretty things, what I need is a bigger kitchen to show them off in. But I have this little antique chest from Richard's family to keep them in, so thats a good thing.Some of these things are from blogging friends, some family and some thrift or garage sales.
Bright and sunny here today, but cold. Going to that tupperware party at my daughters later, like I said I haven't been to one in more then twenty five years. I prefer Glass containers for food, but we will see if I can find something to buy.

This book is very inspiring,she has a way with words and so many good ideas. I have a lot of her books, but this may be my favorite. At least until I read one of her other ones.You can probably find a used one on Amazon or one of the other books sites. I know I got mine used, and also one for my Friend Paula. "HI PAUL".
Going to a tupperware party tomorrow, I haven't been to one in twenty five years. Whats a good thing to get from them these days? Any suggestions?

Great Grandma 's Scrapbook

I was going through some things and came across Great Grandma's scrapbook. I forgot I had it. It was in my cedar chest. I have two of her Diaries which are fun to read too. Anyway lots of pictures , cards and calling cards, and ads that she saved.

Cutting Up Cards

A few weeks ago I got a big bag of cards from the thrift, I know where else. Anyway I saved out all the nicest ones and then cut up the rest. I like cutting out paper dolls so this was fun for me. Lots of cute pieces, and since so many cards are made of a heavy stock these can be used for making all kinds of things, punch a hole in the top and add a ribbon for a book mark, to inclose in a letter or card. etc. And of course for decopage. Pretty sure I spelled that wrong. Anyway, if you are in the mood for cutting up things this is a good project.

I have most of Susan's books. I got most of them used on different books sites. I check her blog often, that is always fun to read. She is working on a new book now, so looking forward to that one. Whenever I get done reading her blog I'm pretty sure I should be going and doing something, just not sure what. She seems to send energy over the web.Im ok with that.

Pretty Lamp From The Thrift

Went to the thrift yesterday with my daughter. This was one of my finds. Four dollars. Let me tell you I had to carry this around a long time in order to find a place for it. That can wear a person out. Well I think this is where its going to be, at least for today. I leave it on all the time, very small bulb. I have four lamps around the house that I leave on all the time. That way if someone breaks in, in the middle of the night they can see what they are doing.
Have two of the Grand Daughters today, no school, so off to make them some pancakes.

Pretty place for your dishsoap

I found this at the thrift,along with that cute salt and pepper set. Anyway, I was pretty sure I had a stopper or pourer for the top of that bottle and I did. But even if I didn't it would have worked. I have always kept my dish soap is something pretty. So if you can find a pretty bottle and a pourer, well there you go.
Got lots of snow now and a high today of 19. So that looooong fall we had has come to an end.Still snowing today. looks pretty.

Little Tea Set

I was at the thrift yesterday, I know that is very strange thing for me to be doing. NOT.
Anyway, found this cute tea set. It was in a very dirty old box, never opened. No upc purchase lines on it, so I guess maybe the 1950's . I think the upc markings came out in the 60's.. Ran the set in the dishwasher and here they are. Also saved that little bird on the saucer from harm, he was on the floor at the thrift and the lady just gave him to me. Well it might be a her, hard to tell.
Looks like we might be getting some bad weather in the next few days. Hope I remember how to drive in it, its been like a spring winter here so far. I think the wildlife and the people are very confused.

Old Things and Old Children's Books.

These are a few of my old Children's Books. I keep these sitting out, I love the pictures. Also in this picture if you can enlarge it, are my Great Grandpa's reading glasses. So fragil compared to the way glasses are made now. Also in the middle of the picture in my childhood silverware, the spoon is a gonner, but I have my knife and fork. The little cup and saucer I got at the thrift last week, I like the little ones, I don't see them that often.There is a little flower in the bottom of the cup you can see when your drink is gone, which would be real soon since the cup is so small.
I found a site where I can print out paper dolls, with the cost of printing ink this was probably not a good find. I printed out a few BETSY McCALL ones then made myself stop. Good Girl.

I Love Old Books

I'm always on the lookout for old books. Found this one at the thrift last week. Its a 1952 copy of East of Eden, and the Wayward Bus, by John Steinbeck. I have seen the movie East of Eden but I don't belive I ever read the book. The other novel, The wayward Bus I know I haven't read. I have read other Steinbeck Books, I have a 1939 copy of Steinbeck"s Grapes Of Wrath.

Thrift Store

I found these last week at the thrift. all of .49 cents. I think they are from the 40's or 50's?? Lot of crazing on the bottom so they have been around awhile. I have a tray with a fruit design like these, so they look cute together.
Still no snow here, never seen a winter like this.
I have three Grand daughters sleeping right now, expect them all to get up soon and well yippes!

That is a picture of the farm I was brought up on. its the back of the house, the plane couldn't get a front picture because of the trees. The front had a porch going all the way across the front. See my play house in the middle of the yard?
The women with the horse is My Grandma who raised me in that farm house. The little girl is me in 1950 at a centennial celebration in my town, The other picture is my two oldest Grand Daughters, Re and Mandy.

Woven Blanket

My Aunt Glenda made this when she was 90, she is 96 now. Says she can't see good enough anymore to do this. She hand wove that entire design into the material. I have so many things around here that she has made or given to me.I'm very lucky to have an Aunt Glenda.
Plan on going to the thrift today. Hope I find something good.

Embroidered Pillow

Finished this pillow yesterday. Now I have to find something else to embroider. Did a lot of cleaning and sorting today. Lots of coffee and choclate were very helpful.Getting some snow today, so it looks like winter now. Just put a pot roast in the oven, but making creamed potatoes this time instead of putting them in with the roast.

Cold and windy here today. I was upstairs where this picture was taken. Boy if you were going to stay up here you would need these quilts. We don't let much heat up here in the winter.Of course when my girls lived at home they claimed we didn't then either. That can't be true, can it?
Been thinking about re doing my craft area down stairs, been looking at the "WHERE WOMEN CREATE" MAGAZINES. Probably shouldn't be looking at those, gets me all excited.So maybe in a few days I can post a picture.
Made a spice cake today, and my youngest Grandaghter is here, no school today. So I think now we might go play paper Dolls.

Winter Time Embroidery

Well I guess its a fun thing to do all year, I just seem to pick it up in the winter. This will be a pillow when its finished.I plan on tea staining it, I have done that to a few things and they come out real nice
We had take out tonight for dinner, usually do on Fridays. Going to take a shower now get my book and take it to bed. The one I'm reading now is,"AS THE CROW FLIES" by Jeffery Archer. Its over 600 pages so I should finish it before summer.HA.
The weather people SAY that we will have a lot of snow next week, we shall see. Maybe I better go to the thrift store tomorrow if thats the case.

Old Children's Blocks

These old blocks have so many differnt pictures on that relate to a different time period.They are fun to look at. I like to think about who would have played with them and when and where. Guess we will never know. All I know is that most of them came from an estate on the Hudson river outside of NY City.

My Aunt Glenda made this in the 1930's. I don't like to hide things away and not use them, but this I just didn't want to put on the table, have you met my grand children and Richard?? OK THEN. So I was thinking how nice it would look on the bench in my back entry, kind of goes with the curtains. So there it is.
My House is all back to normal. I put up Christmas early and take it down right after. I know, that is not the way your suspose to do it, but anyway all gone until next year.
Been reading alot in between all thats going on, seem to be on a good run of good books, sometimes it seems like you just can't find one you like, now I have a whole stack here. yeah!
Rain here this afternoon, suspose to change over to snow and wind tonight and tomorrow, wouldn't you know I have a lot of driving to do tomorrow. My Grandpa used to tell me, that when driving in bad weather, pretend you have a hot cup of coffee on your lap and don't spill it.

Did a little more shopping today, I always think I'm done then decide I'm not. I should be ok and over this by next week. I also did a lot of the food shopping for Christmas Eve. I think we will have 17 here, then after that I need to lay down.Oh no, thats right, the next Day is Christmas Day, NEVER MIND. I know, I will rest on Monday, maybe. An update on Richard's Mom, we were at the hospital a good part of the day and then they released her back to assisted living. I don't think this will be for long, but good for now.

I love that lamp, Richard bought it for me last year for Christmas. Anyway--- might not be posting for a few days. Richard's Mom had to be taken to the Hospital, not sure yet what is going on. She is 94 now. Richard is coming home from work now and we are going in to see what we can find out.

The little bottles on the left all have glitter in, then my jar of jingle bells, and big jar of beads. Got most of the beads from old jewelry from the thrft store. I get these bags of jewelery, some nice vintage pieces, which I save out, and then the jewelry that is broken etc, I take apart for beads. The old picture sitting behind is from Richard's Aunts house, I think its from the 1920's, I like the colors in in.

Going to my Mother inlaw's 94th Birthday this afternoon, she wants an icecream cake, sooo it will either be soup or hard as a rock when we get there, hard to judge the thaw time on that kind of cake.

Its surprising how often my Grand Daughters find just what they are looking for while making a craft or a school project, so see that is a good reason to collect all these things. Some snow would be nice, it is that time of year. We have about an inch now, suspose to get a good bit more later today. So that could mean an inch or a foot, never know around here.
I was looking at the thrift yesterday for some antique Christmas tree decor. You never know what you might find. Maybe after Christmas would be a better time to find something like that. But I had a good day at the thrift anyway, I posted pictures of that below.

There are two pictures today. This one has an oak clock, a Fanny Farmer cookbook, Susan Branch Stickers, Four bookmarks, a big Christmas Book and there was a huge bag of jewelery I dumped in the bowl, I haven't looked at it yet so I have no idea whats in there. And the glass jar with the red Top, I have been looking for one for my Brown Sugar.
The next picture I have always loved. My son had it and it was destroyed, so I was so excited when I saw it and I will give it to him.
Going to go have my lunch now and then I will sort out the jewelery.

Didn't plan on doing it this weekend, but we got a bee in our bonnet and there it is.Tree is up.
Made some oatmeal cookies this morning, and been wraping presents. Have a few cards to get ready to send out. Such a change from years ago, I used to send them out to just about everyone I knew, and some I didn't know that well at all. But with the postage costs its just to much. To bad really because I like sending them and I like receiving them. Do you all send a lot of cards out??? Maybe its just me. This is the little heart rug I dyed with navy liguid rit dye, it WAS all pastel colors. Came out pretty good.
That book is really interesting. Makes you want to make a scrapbook. Full color vintage mamorabilla on every page and the story of her life from childhood and on. I love all the pictures. If you can't see it the title is, "THE SCRAPBOOK OF FRANKIE PRATT". She didn't like her real name.

Church Cookbook, and Bisquick Tin.

Found this at the thrift. Its from a church about 10 miles from me. It even had some hand written recipes hidden in the pages. I was looking through it and it has lots of recipes that look good.
The Bisquick tin I have had for awhile, I got it from an etsy site, even had a lot of the Bisquick recipes cards in it.
Making a pot roast for dinner, that means leftover tomorrow, and Friday we usually order out, so looks like my cooking is under control. Think I will go sit by the fireplace and read for while, I got three new books for my Birthday and they look really good.

Made some walnut brownies today, they came out pretty good, I had three with coffee and have been pretty busy ever since. I dyed two rag rugs with rit dye they came out nice. Been a long time since I have dyed anything. Not sure if thats how you spell dyed put there you have it. Just finished reading a Gladys Taber book, now I'm pretty sure I want to move back to the country and a small town. Richard says I shouldn't read so much it gets me confused. Been raining here all day, no snow yet.

Another really nice Birthday present, this from my youngest Daughter, April, I love old wooden bowls, have to wonder where its been. I cleaned it up real good and wiped it down with olive oil, put it by my sink with dish towels in it. This also came from an antique store, same place as the oil lamp.

My Birthday is this weekend, and one of the presents I got was this antique oil lamp from my oldest daughter Heather. We have an antique store near here which is a great place to go and look around, but I very seldom buy anything there because of the cost. Guess I'm used to those thrift store prices. Anyway, good for me that Heather finds no problem with going there and I get a new oil lamp.
Had 11 for dinner yesterday, all went well, I slept REAL GOOD last night. HA.

I got this big pot a few years ago. I put it out someplace in the winter, so today I filled it with seasonal stuff and here it is. Richard put up the outside lights and the wreath. We turn the lights on Thanksgiving night. Also made a few front door decorations today. So thats a start.

Had a pretty good day at the thrift. The cedar box is really nice. I like the tole tray, the little cup is from Germany. The Santa wall pocket will look nice on the front door with greens etc in it. So off now to get my daughter from work, then cook something for dinner.

Old Clock From My Aunt Glenda

Not sure what is going on with blogger but I have to make two posts , very confusing.
Anywayyyyy, My Aunt Glenda gave me this clock the last time we were down to see her. She is 96 now and still going strong. She asked me if I wanted this clock , Well I wasn't going to say no. I love old clocks. I checked this one out, it was made in 1901, keeps good time and has a really pretty chime.
Had to go have blood work this morning, the needle doesn't bother me, but not having my coffee does. I'm ok now. Just put some peanut butter cookies in to bake, added lots of peanuts.There is a Lot I could do today haven't decided what. Thinking about Thanksgiving dinner, you know the one you spend all day cooking and it takes 10 minutes to eat? That one. Not sure how many are coming, but there is always enough. Then its up with the Christmas lights. So Anyway, if I dont eat to many peanut butter cookies and need a nap, I might go do some Christmas shopping, I wonder if that will be anywhere near where the thrift store is? Try to stay focused, try to stay focused!

Had trouble posting, not sure why. Sometimes Blogger just has its own way.
Nice Fall Day here for November. Mild and in the low 60's. What's up with that? The Geese are even confused, they keep flying over and then turning around and going back. Maybe its just practice runs.
The pretty red Glass ware is from, NO! Not from the thrift but from my Aunt Glenda, I like something pretty in the kitchen window in the colder weather when I can't open the window.
Went for a big grocery order this morning about 8.30. Thought it was good idea to go when the weather was not going to raise havoc with me and the shopping cart. Going to make a nice Chicken dinner, with mashed potaotes and gravy etc, you know the kind of dinner you need to lay down after eating?

Thrift Store Finds Today

Picked up a few things this morning. A little bird for a windowsill, a Brass Bell, a cute little tin, and the very heavy cast Iron Apple. Cleaned them up and found a place for them all.
Made cookies this morning, washed some curtains, and the usual stuff. Checked out the Susuan Branch blog which I check on almost everyday. Going to have some lunch now and some coffee,and then back to playing house.

I keep this on the kitchen table. I got it last summer at an estate sale. It came from a home on the Hudson in NY CITY. The daughter had gone down their with a moving van and moved it all up here. Boy was there some good stuff. Anyway, I paid more then I ususally do for things, but had always wanted a true old wooden bowl. As soon as Thanksgiving is over I will put a little something Christmas in it.

I Love Clocks

This is a picture of my first clock. I bought it when I was 16. I had a waitress job and I saved up my money and bought it. The next thing I bought was was a Rocking chair. Guess I always wanted to play house and still do.
Another nice Fall day here, very mild weather for November. Raked a lot of leaves yesterday, watched football, did a little online Christmas shopping. The kids were in and out all day.
Today?? Not sure yet. Do up the work around here, rake a few more leaves, go to the thrift?? Maybe, I have collectors in the Family and so always looking for something for their collections, sometimes I find just the thing at the thrift. Of course if I try realy hard might find something for me. Really should catch up on my reading, I have five books here just waiting. Well here I go, see what the day brings.

Thrift Store Finds

Isn't this little plate pretty? I got this last week at the thrift for .49 cents. Its an old one made in Germany. The little salt and peppers and the little oil lamp were also from the thrift a while back.
I pressed a lot of leaves yesterday, I was thinking if I still wrote letters or sent out pretty note cards it would be nice to include a pretty leaf. But I don't seem to do that much anymore. What's up with that?? I have a whole drawer of really prety cards and paper too.
Thinking about going to the thrift today but not sure yet. It might require a bit more coffee. Been looking for some old books that might interest my Son Jon for one of his Christmas gifts. He is a collector too. Last year I found him several old Life and Look magazines.
Well off to play house for awhile and then see what the day brings.

This came from Richard's family. Wish it had a date sewn into it so I would know when it was made. The material looks pretty dated, maybe one of you could guess. I thought it looked nice here near the fireplace, I don't like to hide these old things away, I think after all the work put into them they should be seen.

I saw this the other day when I was at the thrift store, in fact it was the first time I have been there in over three months. I must have had a fever to wait so long. But anyway couldn't resist this cute little cahir, it was only three dollars. Finding a place for it when I got home, not so easy. But there it is, it seems happy in that spot.
I should be out raking leaves, but they look so pretty I hate to move them. Maybe I'll just pick up a few more to press. Thats a good idea.

Oh Look I got another picture on. Oh Goodie! Well this Autumn Book by Susun Branch is one of my favorites. Now that plate was from the thrift store a while back, it has the flow blue around it. Needless to say I like that. Woder if it has any value?

I do this every year. There are so many pretty ones. I press them between wax paper and then put them in this book. The yard looks so pretty now with all the leaves and the colors, I almost hate to see them raked up.

Well its been awhile, but I'm back. Do you know I even went to the thrift store this morning. I haven't been there for three months. I got a few cute things which I will post pictures of in a few days. First I have to figure out HOW to post pictures. I forgot how!!! I got this picture on, but it was an accident, don't know for sure how I did it. But its one of my old clocks, at least I think thats what its going to be when I go to look in a minute. If the picture is not there then never mind.

Guess the whole country is under a heat wave. I know we have been outside a lot for softball and its just a touch warm out there. Have to be out there several times this week for play off games, starting tonight, suspose to be in the 90's. yippes.
Made some peanut butter cookies, and some egg salad with bacon in it for dinner. Going to go now and hose the deck off.

Going away over the weekend with the softball travel team. See you next week.

Really hot here today, muggy and may hit 90, thats pretty hot for this part of the country.
Got a lot of work done around here and was outside early to feed the birds and fill the bird baths. The birds must have been waiting for me, because as soon as I had fresh water in them they were there. Some get right in the middle and make fools of themselves and some sit on the side and just drink.
Guess I'll go check the freezer and see if I can come up with something good for dinner, I know there is ice cream up there, but that probably doesn't count, or does it?

Jack and Dave in the Hammock

I was out shopping and when I came home the boys were outside in the hammock. Well I can't blame them, its really hot today, don't know how they stand all that fur. I had to tell them to slow down in the hammock so I could get the picture, they had it moving pretty fast and really hanging on. They are really clever,I had the door locked when I went shopping but they climbed out the window.

Little Birds

I pick up little china birds when I see them and hide them around. Some by my plants some in my plants. I started doing this when I got a plant from my Aunt's house, and she had a little bird hidden in the plant. Its still there and I think of her every time I water that plant.
Just cleaned out all my food cupboards and checked all the dates on the food. Had to throw out a few things that had expired.
I wanted to bake something today but I think we are going to be in and out for a few days so maybe Sunday I will make a cake. Usually cook a nice dinner on Sunday unless there is something going on.
Grand Daughter Abby is here today, so guess I will go see what she would like to do, its such a nice day here today.

Yes it was in the attic. Don't know how to explain that so we just won't talk about it.
Perfect weather this week, 80's and no rain so far. Today is Grand daughter #4 Marissa'S Birthday, so we will be going to her house later for dinner.
Been washing all my curtains. One room per day. Also Seem to be on a 'DON'T NEED IT ANYMORE' mind set. Probably getting rid of stuff that I will be wanting in a few months, ususally the way that goes.
Went to the Library yesterday and checked out several books. Always need something good to read. Seems like everytime I sit down to read one of the Grand Daughters pop in, but thats a good thing I guess, would miss it if they didn't.
The catus in this picture I got at a garage sale a few years ago, didn't really want it but it was almost dead and I felt sorry for it so here it is, Happy Happy plant.

We found this along the road several years ago. Everything on it is Iron. We had one at home on the farm that was pretty old with wood handles. I'll have to look up old wheelbarrows and see if I can age this one. Anyway, there it sits with flowers in every year. Better here then in the dump where it was headed.

I got the little white pitcher and the cute little vase, made in Germany, A few weeks ago. Just need a nice little bunch of wild flowers for the vase. Have to work on that.Some queen anne's Lace would be pretty.
No garage sales this week. Too many things going on. Maybe next week. Been raining a lot here the last few days. Not good when we have five softball games, two Birthdays and a Graduation, and a parade and carnival.Well if evrything falls apart I got four books at the Library yesterday.

Its most always cool with a breeze on my back deck. Going to need that today. really warm here.
Looks like I'm going to miss the garage sales this weekend. We have four softball games, two birhtdays, a Graduation, and its West Seneca days, which means, a parade, a carnival, fireworks etc. Oh yes, a softball get together after the games on Sunday for food and swimming. I may have to lay down a lot on Monday.
Trying to come up with a really fast dinner for Richard tonight, we have to leave for a game at 5:15.Don't think he's real big on peanut butter.

A blogger friend was a asking if we remembered collecting Green stamps and then turning them in at the green stamp store. I think I can still remember what that glue tasted like when licking them and putting them in the book. Anyway that picture above my sofa is a green stamp picture. I thought I would try some Begonias this year. I don't have lot of sun here because of all the shade trees. But they were just so pretty I had to get a couple of them.
Sunny this morning but suppose to get rain later. We have a softball game in the early evening so hope it holds off until later.
Plan on stopping at the thrift later, no time this coming weekend for garage sales so better see whats new at the thrift.

Cool here and sunny. The birds are extra loud this morning must be some important news being passed around. Guess I'll go check on my flowers. I think its about time my roses were doing something. Fill the bird feeders, maybe thats what all the birds are talking about, the feeders are empty. The squirrels are a big help this that.

Old Wooden Bowl From an Estate Sale

I have been looking for a really old wood bowl for a long time and found this at an estate sale yesterday. I don't really know how old it is, wish I did. The girl said she shipped all of her Mother's things here from a home in Long Island. Everything was very old and Victorian looking.

Another find at the Church rummage sale is the glass jar on the left. That too was only .25 cents. Thought it was a good place for my marbles.
Going to pick up my daughter and get some groceries. Then cook some dinner, Richard will probably mow the lawn. It needs it twice a week this time of year. Then we go to a piano recital for my 9 year old Grand Daughter.
Been doing a lot of reading, I have four used books and one new one ordered. I get a lot of used books from a place called THRIFT BOOKS. It's always free shipping.

Found this along with a lot of other things at a Church rummage sale this past weekend. It was .25 cents. I have another one, a lighter color and that one is worth as much as forty dollars. So for .25 cents this was a really good find. I had been looking for a black one so was pretty excited to see it there.

I put a vinka vine in my little bird cage, it should weave itself all around. Not sure if thats how you spell vinka, but it is a nice vine for planters etc.
Went to a church rummage sale on Sat. It makes garage sale prices seem way high. I got so many cute things, two bags and it came it 2.39. I gave them a five and said to keep it. I'll post a few pictures soon.
I think the only evening we will be home this week is wed. Lots of softball. So if you want to come over I should be home. We could all go to the thrift store.HA.

Went to the thrift last week, and got a few cute things. This Tea pot and the very big tea cup, big hit of caffeine going on here.
Had a really nice weekend two days of a softball tourney, and a nice dinner at one of the coach's house. Monday the family all came here to my house for a cookout. The weather being perfect for the first time in a long time.

Vintage Tablecloths

Here are a few of my old tablecloths. The one on the back of the chair is really big and all hand embroidered. I think the reason I got it for three dollars at a gargage sale a few years ago is because its impossible to iron. So you just put a lot of plates and bowls on it and no one will notice.
The little Lunch size one on the lower right was made by one of Richard's aunts.
I have been seing them at the thrift but not buying them. Maybe I should and add a few more to the ones I have. That way in about 30 years my kids will have more to return to the thrift store. Gives them something to do.

Knitting Frenzy

Kind of an out of season thing for me to be doing but I can't seem to stop.The thing is I don't really know to much about knitting. So its hats, scarfs, mittens. Now if I could figure out out to knit socks I might have something useful. Guess I could donate my handiwork to the homeless. I think our church takes up a collection around Christmas time. I think my favorite thing is just the way it all looks in a basket.
